How this is sourced and what it covers

Source: the open WARN Notice Register, which consolidates the WARN listings that state workforce agencies publish. Our copy is current through October 20, 2026. The register covers 46 states and DC; Arkansas, New Hampshire, West Virginia and Wyoming sit outside it. WARN notices are the advance filings that employers with roughly 100 or more employees send to state agencies before a layoff or closure, typically 60 days ahead. Each entry is a filing: headcounts and dates are as the employer or state recorded them, a notice can later be revised, and the planned event can change before it happens. A notice names how many workers the employer expects to lose and says nothing about which workers, or whether they can move to another role. Notices are counted under the employer's name, with its spellings together. A notice filed under a name we cannot tie to this employer is missing here. A listing that repeats an earlier one is counted once, and a notice the register labels is listed with its label and left out of the counts. How to read layoff notice data sets out what the notices can and cannot say. Informational only; not legal, immigration, or financial advice.

Wage data: U.S. Department of Labor OFLC LCA Disclosure Data and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS. LCA filings reflect sponsored-worker wage offers, which skew toward mid-large employers and specific occupations — treat any estimate built from a small sample cautiously.
